We may be biased, but our home state of Alabama offers stunning fall views, and the absolute best way to enjoy those views is by going on weekend camping trips! One spot that we highly recommend visiting this season is DeSoto State Park

About DeSoto State Park
Encompassing 3,502-acres, DeSoto State Park is nestled atop beautiful Lookout Mountain in scenic Northeast Alabama. This area is accented by many rushing waterfalls, fragrant wildflowers in the summer and vibrant fall foliage this time of year! Developed in the late 1930s, the hard-working and dedicated men of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) made many natural enhancements to the park that have withstood the test of time and will last for future generations.
Conveniently located only 8 miles northeast of Fort Payne, DeSoto State Park offers a family-friendly atmosphere that holds wonders for people of all ages!

- Park Trails/Picnic Areas are open dawn to dusk
Pricing:
- For day visits, it is free to enter the park
- There is a $4 parking fee at DeSoto Falls and a $2 parking fee at the picnic areas

Where To Stay
DeSoto State Park offers something for everyone! Lodging includes Mountain Chalets, Log and Rustic Cabins, Motel Rooms, and an Improved Campground with 94 full-hookup tent and RV sites. For the more adventurous, there are also Primitive Camping sites for tents as well as two back country campsites with shelters. Regardless of where you choose to stay, bring along your GO-KOT portable cot to enhance your experience!
